How to Apply: Step by Step

UQ's scholarship application is embedded within the program admission process. Follow these five steps:

  1. Find a Research Supervisor

Identify a UQ academic whose research aligns with yours and contact them with a brief proposal. Confirmed supervisor support is essential and significantly strengthens your application.

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)

Most scholarship rounds begin with an EOI through the UQ Graduate School portal. Submit at least 2–3 weeks before the final deadline to allow your advisor time to review and respond.

  1. Complete the Full Application

Once your EOI is accepted, submit your full application — covering academic history, research proposal, referee reports, and English language proof. You are automatically considered for all scholarships you qualify for.

  1. Meet the Round Deadline

All documents — including referee reports — must be submitted before the round closes. Incomplete applications roll into the next available round.

  1. Await Outcome

UQ's Scholarship Committees assess applications based on academic merit, research potential, and advisor endorsement. Results are communicated by email. Unsuccessful applicants may reapply in a future round.
