Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  1. Are you a domestic or international student?

  2. Have applied for a PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research at ANU.

  3. Hold a Bachelor's degree with First-Class Honors — some Colleges accept upper second-class honors.

  4. Or hold a Master's degree with a research component from a recognized university.

  5. Note: International students must study full-time. Domestic students may apply for part-time study under strict criteria (e.g., medical condition or career responsibilities).


How to Apply

There is no separate scholarship application. You are automatically considered when you apply for admission to a PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research at ANU. Follow these steps:

  1. Contact a potential supervisor or Graduate Studies Convener before applying to discuss your research topic.

  2. Apply for admission to a PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research via the ANU online portal.

  3. Indicate your scholarship interest on the admission form.

  4. Ensure your application is complete — including all supporting documents and referee reports — by the deadline.

  5. Important: Referee reports are triggered automatically when you submit. Give your referees 2–3 weeks' notice and submit your application early — reports must arrive before the deadline for your application to be considered complete. Application Deadlines
